Red Ribbon Week
Eureka County has participated in Red Ribbon Week since 1988 when it was nationally recognized by the Reagan Administration’s war on drugs. Red Ribbon Week was born from the memory of former DEA agent Enrique Camarena’s enforcement of the Mexican Drug cartels which led to some major seizures of drugs… which eventually led to his abduction, torture, and death by the cartels in 1985. The red ribbon was a symbol of his remembrance and work that started in his hometown of Calexico, CA. Let me know how and what you can do or would like to do to help. Eureka County and Eureka County School District partner up and provide fun activities and meaningful presentations to the students in Eureka and Crescent Valley during this week every year. Red Ribbon Week is always October 23-31 annually.
